About the studio

SpellFern makes games for people who like to think. A teenager can play a fast daily puzzle on the bus. A grandmother can play a slow game of cribbage with her grandson in another city. We want both of them to enjoy it.

We want our games to be clear and fair, with rules that are easy to learn. A game must be good to play on a short break and good to play for a long evening.

SpellFern is a studio of Hunter Thomas LLC.

Why the name? A fern does not open all at once. It starts as a tight spiral and opens one leaf at a time.

A good word game works the same way. One letter, then the next, then the answer.
